African American Read In

The African American Read In is a National Event that the San Francisco Alliance has sponsored and implemented for over forty years.

Students will have the opportunity to hear rich literature written by African American/Black authors and often enjoy seeing the creative work of African American/ Black illustrators. These amazing stories are brought to life by our volunteers who read books that also depict the African American /Black Culture and experience.

Our guests share a little bit about their various professions and jobs and express how reading is important in their everyday life. Our readers receive a certificate of participation and are served a healthy breakfast.

Date & Time

The event occurs on the 1st Monday of February.  This event usually starts at 9:00 am.  This is an annual event.

Location
