The 30th Annual African American Honor Roll & 20th Community Awards Ceremony celebrates African American students in SFUSD on the Honor Roll, with GPAs equal to or greater than 3.0. This a signature event for the students, families, community members, and the City and County of San Francisco.

In 1994, Mr. Louis Garrett took charge of commencing the African American Honor Roll following a community gathering at Ella Hill Hutch to address news stories about low GPAs of Black pupils.
